Melissa completed her first triathlon with much trepidation in 2008. For someone from a very non-athletic background, she had dreamed of doing a triathlon but never thought it was possible. In 2008 she realized her dream, crossing the finish line of her first try-a-tri with tears of happiness, a grin of satisfaction, and knowing that this first race was not going to be her last. In 2011 she joined the GTC Beginner Clinic to work on her open water swim and complete another try-a-tri race before working toward her first sprint in 2012 and her first Olympic in 2016. Melissa became an NCCP certified community coach in 2015 so that she can introduce people to the great community of triathlon and show that anyone can successfully cross the finish line of their first race.
