Mega Day ~ Triathlon Training

Location: Optimist Recreation Centre, 23 Brock Road South, Aberfoyle

Schedule:

9:00 am: Arrival and Set Up (please plan to be parked by 8:55am so we can load in and start on time!)
9:15 am: Strength and Activation
9:40 am: Bric/Run – 3 sets with 3 to 5min break between each, or take more rest as needed
11:20 am: Break
11:30 am: Yoga and Stretch
11:50 am: Clear Out

Overview:

Included in your GTC 2025 Membership is this ½ day indoor training taking place on Sunday, February 2, 2025. All fitness levels can participate!

The training session will start with a strength/activation led by Dominika Jamnicky, Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine at Defy Sports Performance & Physiotherapy. Domi is a competitive triathlete with an impressive athletic resume. She’s also a local triathlon coach, giving her unique insight into the demands of the sport when treating athletes.

After the activation, we’ll jump into three bike/run brics led by GTC coach Elizabeth Stewart. The bike segment requires an indoor bike trainer and the run will be a short course loop outside. We’ll conclude with a yoga/stretch cool down.

What to Bring:

  • Bike, indoor trainer, bike shoes, anything else you usually need for indoor riding (we’ll have cords and power bars for those with smart trainers)
  • Towel for under your bike and trainer
  • Running shoes (if you’re doing the brics, please bring clean dry runners for the indoor track)
  • Sweat towel
  • Water bottle and nutrition (there’s a water fountain to refill)
  • Yoga mat or towel for yoga
  • If you have an extension cord or a power bar, please bring it just in case we need an extra
  • Outdoor running clothes that you can layer over your indoor bike outfit
  •  Your enthusiasm and give-it-my-best attitude!

Arrival Instructions:

Plan to arrive early as it will take 25 minutes to unload, park and set up before the workout begins. Pull right up to the entry door. GTC members will be there to help unload and bring your stuff in. Go park and come back to get set up. If you finish setting up, we ask that you continue to help others set up so we’re all good to start on time. Please don’t be late, and if you are, come in and set up as best you can without interrupting any others, then jump into the workout when you can.

Ensure your run shoes are clean and dry and also make sure your bike wheels are clean before bringing it indoors. If you have sharp edges on your trainer, be sure to protect the flooring with an extra towel underneath it.

Note: Personal belongings can be kept with you during practice.

 

GTC members, please email Coach Elizabeth if you plan to attend so we can have a sense of numbers. Please also let Elizabeth know if you’d like to attend, but need to borrow a trainer. If you would be able to loan a trainer, whether you plan to attend or not, please also let Elizabeth know. We will arrange pick up and drop off of your trainer.
